Disciple's
Call exists to equip men and women to develop a lifestyle of
disciplemaking, both at home in the United States of America and
abroad.
Jesus'
Great Commission (Matthew 28) instructed believers
to make disciples,
not to merely persuade others to acknowledge a vague philosophy.
A disciple is a devoted follower of Jesus Christ who has
been captured by the grace of God, seized the life He
offers, and is compelled to make Him known to others.
Disciple's Call desires to spur on
individuals and churches to develop both as disciples and
disciplemakers.
Paul
shared his passion to make Christ paramount-"number
one"-with the Christians in Colossae (Colossians
1:28,29). His primary strategies were: promoting, urging,
and appealing to every person through his instruction
and training. Paul had only one goal in mind
"that
we may present every person complete in Christ."
The Greek word actually means perfect, whole, mature,
full- grown. Paul didn't say the goal is to become enlightened,
self-actualized or fulfilled. Nor did he urge Christians
to completeness "in Paul" or through any other
leader-but "in Christ." Those who have trusted
Jesus Christ for forgiveness and salvation have already
had their lives placed "in Christ," but will
not fully reach completion until Jesus returns again.
Paul labored and poured his life into others to help
them "grow up" and live out their new found
faith in Jesus. This same goal
is the purpose for Disciple's calland our most important
occupation.
